Our major annual fundraiser, The SA Hiking Challenge kicks off tomorrow!
Around 300 hiking enthusiasts will be taking to The Heysen Trail, south of Burra, and hiking 80kms over two days through the stunning Copper Country.
We’ve been blown away by the amazing fundraising effort this year with the current tally sitting at $340,000, far exceeding our target of $250,000!
Our CEO, Nick Lee, said, “It’s marvellous to see so many people keen to get involved and the fantastic fundraising by participants.”
“There are dozens of bowel cancer stories among our participants, including survivors, those hiking for a loved one who is battling the disease, and others who have a close connection to it in one way or another.”
The SA Hiking Challenge will this year be in memory of Tracey Lee Diamond, who sadly lost her battle with bowel cancer last year. Tracey’s family business Food Processing Equipment is the major sponsor of the event.
There will be a special dinner at the end of the event at the Burra Mine, where participants will gather to celebrate completing the hike.
