Our board member Tania Carey and General Manager at Food Processing Equipment spoke at this year’s Core Logic Career Expo on resilience in the workforce.
After her twin sister Tracey was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2010 aged 38, life changed instantly. Tania was the General Manager of her family business Food Processing Equipment. While trying to cope with the heartache of her sister’s illness and managing a business, Tania realised how resilient the human spirit is when it is tested beyond anything you could imagine.
“Prior to Tracey’s diagnosis I was tough on my staff when their family issues encroached on work time. Loosing Tracey taught me greater empathy and I am a better leader as a result of it”. – Tania Carey
At FPE one of the core values is “making a difference”. FPE wants to use their social reach and community to help the Jodi Lee Bowel Cancer Foundation not only financially, but more importantly to spread the word in the food industry about the importance of early detection.
In 2014, FPE launched a collaboration with the Jodi Lee Bowel Cancer Foundation, announcing the JLF Trek SA 2015 would be named in Tracey’s honour. Since then, Tania and FPE have continued to be a part of the JLF annual treks, New York marathon, countless fundraising events and generous donations.
Tania is proud of the partnership between FPE and the Jodi Lee Bowel Cancer Foundation and hopes to continue her support for many more years to come
“We will never forget Trace, and this is our way of continuing to honour her”. – Tania Carey
