Ambassador Spotlight – John Clements.

“Turning 50 over 18 years ago changed everything. My mother, Shirley, had battled bowel cancer, and with other family members affected, she urged me to get checked.

Her intuition was right. A colonoscopy detected a tumour, leading to surgery and chemotherapy in 2007.”

Tragically, Shirley passed away during John’s treatment. Nearly 19 years on, John is cancer-free and continues to honour her memory and share the message to others that early detection saves lives.

“My mother passed away on the morning of my 11th treatment. I owe her my life. Early detection was a gift, and sharing my story, volunteering with the Jodi Lee Foundation, and taking part in The JLF Treks is how I honour her legacy.”

John is a passionate volunteer, advocate and community ambassador. Last year, John completed the Portuguese Camino – walking over 700kms in 26 days and raising over $10,000 for the Foundation to support our work in bowel cancer prevention and early detection.

He’s a proud regular at The JLF Trek & Trail Run, and, once again is one of our highest individual fundraisers.
This year marks his 17th trek.

From being named our inaugural Volunteer of the Year in 2021, to modelling merch, sharing our messages far and wide, and contributing awareness information to his local paper – John’s impact is extraordinary.

John never misses a chance to rally his wife Louise, friends and Rotary Club members to support our cause, volunteering at our events and raising money.

TODAY, John, together with his wife Louise and their mates, will be firing up the BBQ at Bunnings Victor Harbor for a sausage sizzle to add to his trek fundraising campaign. It’s just one more example of his tireless commitment to making a difference.

Thank you John for your unwavering commitment.
Your passion and story continue to inspire us all.
