45 is the new 50. Opt In In October.
If you’re aged 45 to 49, you can now opt in to receive a free bowel screening kit from the Australian Government – and this October, we’re encouraging you to take that step.
We are proud to launch our ‘Opt In In October’ campaign, urging eligible Australians to go online and request their free kit.
The National Bowel Cancer Screening Program was expanded in July 2024 to include Australians aged 45–49. Unlike those aged 50–74 who are automatically sent a kit every two years, 45–49 year-olds need to opt in to receive their first kit.
Why it matters:
– Bowel cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in Australia.
– Up to 99% of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated or even prevented if detected early.
– The bowel screening test can detect microscopic traces of blood in your bowel movement – a possible sign of cancer or polyps – before symptoms appear.
This simple, at-home test could save your life.
It takes just 2 minutes to request your kit – and it’s completely free.
October is your reminder.
Don’t wait.
