In football, every goal is celebrated on the road to victory, but when it comes to bowel cancer prevention it’s behinds that matter most.

This Saturday the Sydney Swans Football Club will get behind our Behinds Matter campaign at the Sydney Cricket Ground, to raise awareness of Australia’s second biggest cancer killer.

Footy fans at the Round 23 Sydney Swans v Richmond clash will be asked to show their support every time a behind is scored, by holding up Behinds Matter crowd signs.

In Australia, bowel cancer claims a life every two hours – that’s around 80 people every week or more than 4,000 people each year. There are often no symptoms until the cancer has spread, which is why regular screening is so important. If detected early up to 90% of bowel cancers can be successfully treated or even prevented.

Sydney Swans player Isaac Heeney has also thrown his support behind the campaign, sharing the story of his grandfather and his personal battle with the disease.

We’d like to thank Isaac and the Swans for their support, and wish them all the best for the season!
