I didn’t give bowel cancer a second thought. I had taken bowel screening tests before, always with a negative result. I am healthy and energetic at 62 years old, with no family history of bowel cancer and no symptoms whatsoever.
When my employer offered me a screening test through The Jodi Lee Foundation, I took it. To my surprise, the result came back positive. The doctors found two large tumours and a number of polyps. I had early stage bowel cancer.
Within two months from diagnosis, the polyps and tumours had been removed. I was lucky.
I am so grateful that I was given the opportunity to take another screening test, because if I had waited, it would have been too late for me.
