Linda’s story
One thing I dislike is people cringing when they hit 50 or 60 years of age. To me, being able to reach these milestones is something to be thankful for.
I am lucky to be working for Accolade Wines, who gave me the chance to screen through The Jodi Lee Foundation’s Corporate Bowel Screening Program.
I took the test and it came back positive. I then had two polyps removed during a follow up colonoscopy. Further testing showed the larger of the two was in the process of turning into cancer.
If I had waited until I was 50 to screen through the Government’s program it would have been too late. My doctor said it would have developed into advanced cancer in two years time and I wouldn’t be here to celebrate my 50th.
I had no symptoms and felt fine. So if your kit is stuffed in a drawer or still in your car, I can only encourage you to get it out and use it. Because major surgery, chemo and radiation are not nice and life is too short as it is.
Prevention is better than treatment.
