A new campaign to promote the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program has just been launched!

The ‘A gift for living’ campaign promotes the Program’s expansion from five-yearly to biennial for eligible Australians, with activities designed to inform people about the changes and encourage participation in screening.

The Australian Government last year announced it would increase its commitment to bowel cancer prevention by expanding the Program, which will be fully implemented by 2020.

The Program was first introduced in 2006 to save lives by offering free bowel screening tests to Australians over 50. The expansion means about 4 million Australians will now be invited to screen each year and more than 12,000 suspected or confirmed cancers will be detected each year.

If you’re aged between 50-74 you’ll be sent a free bowel cancer screening kit in the mail. To read more click here.
