View Your Poo!
It could save your life/

Blood in your poo can be a sign of bowel cancer.

So next time you go to the toilet, we’re urging you to view your poo, it could save your life.

Bowel cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in Australia, and the leading cancer killer in Australians aged 25-34.

However, if detected early, up to 99% of bowel cancers can be successfully treated or even prevented.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU NOTICE BLOOD IN YOUR POO

If you notice blood in your poo, in the toilet bowl or on your toilet paper (even if only occasionally), see your GP as soon as possible.

It’s important not to delay, as early detection is key to successful treatment.

Other bowel cancer symptoms include:

  • A change in bowel habits for longer than two weeks, such as: going to the toilet more frequently, constipation, loose or watery bowel movements, feeling that the bowel does not completely empty, or bowel movements that are narrower than usual
  • Frequent gas pains, bloating, fullness or cramps
  • Persistent and severe abdominal pain
  • A lump in your stomach or rectum
  • Unexplained feelings of tiredness, breathlessness or a lack of energy
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Unexplained vomiting

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please speak to your GP as soon as possible.
