Jess Stenson (nee Trengove) is a dual Olympic marathon runner, a two-time Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and the 2022 Commonwealth Marathon champion. She grew up in the country town of Naracoorte, south east of Adelaide, where her passion for athletics was ignited. Jess started to make an impact on the local SA running scene in her early twenties, and it wasn’t long before she was turning heads nationally. Jess’ marathon debut was in 2012 in Nagoya, Japan. Not long after that she secured her spot on the Australian Olympic team and travelled to the London Olympic Games to compete in what was only her second marathon. Four years later she represented Australia at the Rio Olympics where she placed 21st. In 2019 she became a Mother and nearly three years later, achieved her long-term goal of winning gold at the Commonwealth Games.
Sadly, Jess was never able to meet her Nana due to bowel cancer. Jess’s mission is to help us prevent this from happening to other families by raising awareness of how to reduce bowel cancer risk though screening, knowing the symptoms and leading a healthy lifestyle.
