A night of bowel cancer awareness in Perth.
Despite a cold and rainy Perth evening, we were delighted to welcome members of the community to the Elford Hotel for an inspiring and important conversation about bowel cancer awareness.
A huge thank you to everyone who braved the weather to join us and show their support. Your presence helped create a warm, engaging atmosphere and reinforced the importance of coming together to tackle Australia’s second deadliest cancer.
Guests heard from Jodi Lee Foundation Founder & Chair, Nick Lee OAM, who shared the Foundation’s mission to save lives through the power of prevention and early detection. We also welcomed Kris Butler, a bowel cancer survivor and passionate advocate, whose personal story was a powerful reminder that bowel cancer can affect anyone, regardless of age or lifestyle.
Throughout the evening, we discussed the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer, the importance of knowing your family history, and the simple lifestyle changes that can help reduce risk. Most importantly, we highlighted a message that cannot be repeated enough: when detected early, up to 99% of bowel cancers can be successfully treated or even prevented.
These community events play a vital role in starting conversations that lead to action. We’re helping to break down the stigma around discussing bowel health and encouraging Australians to speak openly about symptoms, screening and prevention. As bowel cancer rates continue to rise among younger Australians, these conversations have never been more important.
To everyone who attended, asked questions, shared their experiences, and helped spread awareness among friends and family, thank you. Together, we’re creating a future where fewer Australians are diagnosed with bowel cancer and more lives are saved through early detection.
We look forward to continuing the conversation and seeing you at future Jodi Lee Foundation community events.
Because when it comes to bowel cancer, knowledge, awareness and early action can save lives.
