• When and where does the event briefing take place?
    Your safety throughout The JLF Trek is our number one priority. At the event briefing you will be told everything that you need to know about safety, all emergency and safety and checkpoint procedures plus any last-minute changes to the route. The trek briefing will be held at Enoggera Reservoir Bus Station, The Gap. Refer to the Hike Guide for briefing times.


  • Where do I get my bib?
    Your bib will be given to you at the briefing meeting which takes place before the trek commences. We ask that you wear your bib on the outside of your clothing or backpack so that it is visible at all times.


  • How do I get to the starting line?
    On event days, a bus will be provided to the starting line. Car parking will be available at the bus departure location, Enoggera Reservoir, The Gap.


  • Do I need to organise my own accommodation?
    You are responsible for making your own accommodation arrangements.


  • How do I register for The JLF Trek?
    Registration is simple. Visit The JLF Trek event page and sign up via the “Register” button. You will need to create an account and profile, set up your fundraising page, read and accept the terms and conditions – then you are ready to get started!


  • How do I login to My Profile?
    You can login to My Profile by entering your username and password. If you have lost your username or password, you can reset this via the forgotten password function.


  • What can I use the “My profile” page for?
    Once you have registered, you will be able to log into your “My Profile” with your username and password. Once logged in, you will find a range of tools to help you on your fundraising journey. Resources include: Facebook and Instagram banners and profile pictures and downloadable posters and images that you can use to let people know you’re taking part in The JLF Trek.


  • How can I go about fundraising for The JLF Trek?
    You can start fundraising as soon as you have registered and your profile is set up. Kick start your own fundraising by sending an email to family, friends and colleagues with a link to your own fundraising page.
    Get social and share your fundraising page and message to your favourite social media channels.
    You can hold a fundraising event for your trek on any day, at any time and anywhere before your trek. It could be a neighbourhood street party, bake sale, a morning tea at your workplace, a movie night or a lemonade stall – whatever takes your fancy – but you will be raising funds to help eliminate bowel cancer.


  • Why should I take part in The JLF Trek?
    For fun! To challenge yourself! For Corporate team building!
    The JLF Treks are one of our major fundraising events, which sees people walking in the name of bowel cancer prevention. We rely on fundraising and the generosity of donors to support our initiatives that help to raise awareness about bowel cancer and the importance of early detection.


  • Am I fit enough to do The JLF Trek?
    If you plan to undertake the trek, be aware that it is an endurance event. It will challenge you physically and mentally but,  with the right preparation, you will enjoy it.
    We also have options for distances. Whichever distance you choose, please make sure you prepare well in advance and get your body used to long distance walking on varying elevations and surfaces. Once registered, you will have access via your profile to a detailed training guide that will help you to prepare for the trek.
    If you have a pre-existing injury or illness, you should seek medical advice before commencing registration.


  • Are there compulsory items you need to carry?

Yes, you must carry the following items:

  • Event day bib (which is to be fixed on your clothing or backpack so it is visible at all times)
  • A 2 Litre water bladder or 2L water bottle
  • Basic First Aid Kit (blister pads, sunscreen, bandages)
  • Personal medication (EpiPen, Ventonlin etc)
  • Food/snacks e.g. nuts, protein balls, dried fruit etc.

Not compulsory but we recommend you carry the following items:

  • Mobile phone (with plenty of charge)
  • Wet weather gear
  • Spare shoes and socks if wet weather
  • Trekking poles
  • Vaseline or body glide for your feet
  • Spare plastic bag for wet clothing
  • Small torch
  • Whistle
  • Matches
  • Compass Cuffs or Gaiters


  • Who can enter The JLF Trek?
    The JLF Trek is open to anyone over the age of 16, however children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.


  • How do I start a team?
    You can start a team right throughout the registration process or you can do this at a later date by logging into your profile.


  • Steps to register a team
  1. Nominate yourself as the Team Manager and tell your friends you are setting up the team and inform them of the name of the team.
  2. Log in to your profile.
  3. Under the ‘registration field’ select ‘start team’.
  4. Enter the team name, upload a team photo and words for the team fundraising page.


  • Can I get a refund or is the registration fee transferrable?
    No. The registration fee is non-refundable, non-transferable and not tax deductible.


  • What should I wear?
    Please work out what’s most comfortable especially for the 2 day trek. Walking shoes or boots, or trail running shoes are recommended. We don’t suggest that you wear brand new shoes – make sure you wear in the shoes you have trained and are comfortable to walk in.
    We suggest you wear leggings, lightweight pants or shorts. Layers are always good. Remember, it’s cold in the morning but the weather can warm up as the day goes on.


  • What happens at each check point?
    You will be greeted by our event staff and volunteers where you will be required to sign in before moving past the checkpoint.


  • Food and Water
    You will receive a snack pack at registration, which will include fruit, a bar and a piece of cake.
    At the main Checkpoint you will be provided with all you can eat soup and crusty bread to sustain you for the rest of the trek. Top up water will be available from marshalls along the route and at the checkpoints. You may also like to top up your snack pack with your own provisions.


  • Where do I find the latest weather conditions?
    Please be prepared to hike in sunshine and rain. We’d ask you to keep your eye on the local weather forecasts which you can do via the Bureau of Meteorology.


  • What happens at the finish line?
    You will be treated to a celebratory BBQ at the finish line. Your family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate your achievement : tickets can be purchased here


  • What about meals prior and post trek each day?
    You will need to make arrangements for dinners and breakfast each morning. Please note that buses can leave very early in the mornings so make sure you eat before you leave.


  • What if I have specific dietary requirements?
    When you register, please let us know if you have any specific dietary requirements and we will do our best to accommodate you.


  • Will my mobile phone work?
    This will depend on network coverage and is not always possible due to remote locations or blackspots. We ask that you download the “Emergency+” app which will provide your GPS location in the case of an emergency.


  • What if I need help whilst trekking?

    If you need medical assistance, to reduce the distance you walk you can speak to one of the medics and/or support vehicle crew who will assist you. This can be arranged by calling either 0401 713 039 or 0414 311 972.

  • What toilet facilities are on the trek?
    Toilet facilities are very basic.


  • Do I need insurance?
    While we undertake all measures possible to ensure your safety but you are responsible for your own health and wellbeing in the lead up to and during the event. Make sure you have the relevant health insurance and ambulance cover.


  • Is alcohol permitted?
    Alcohol is not permitted on the trail or on transport to/from the trek.


  • What happens if a change needs to be made to the route?
    Elite Executive Events reserves the right to change or amend the route for the safety of participants. This may be due to extreme weather conditions, changes to the trail or track we are accessing and/or other factors outside of our control. Our goal is to find you the best route along some of Australia’s finest hiking trails and get your finished in daylight hours. However, locations that suit our start and finish lines or checkpoints may be affected or altered due to local authorities and again, circumstances outside of our control. While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of distances and maps, Jodi Lee Foundation accepts no responsibility for any errors or omissions nor for any loss or damage alleged to be suffered by anyone as a result of the publication of this map or our Hike Guide, or as a result of the user or misuse of the information provided herein. Feedback and recommended corrections are welcomed. The actual JLF Trek route may vary, but it will be marked accordingly and our volunteers will direct you to follow the route as marked.
