“All partnerships are important, but this one saves lives”

The wellbeing of employees and families impacted by bowel cancer also has a significant cost and impact on personnel and business productivity.

The cost of the first year of treatment for a stage 3 bowel cancer patient is $50,000, and will likely see the patient take extended time off work for treatment alone.

What many do not realise is that bowel cancer is up to 99% treatable if detected early. Not only are the survival rates much higher in stage 1 bowel cancer patients (99%) than stage 4 (13%), but bowel cancer has the potential to be prevented through removal of pre-cancerous polyps via a colonoscopy.

This is why it is so important to encourage everyone to take active steps to prevent bowel cancer.
